What You’ll Get

What You’ll Need
- 5v power adapter
- USB-C cord to connect the power adapter to the Security+ Garage Door Opener
- 2 short lengths of wire (18-20AWG) to connect the GDO to your garage door opener
- Double sided tape or velcro to mount the GDO module
Installation
- Unplug your garage door opener
- Mount the CircuitSetup Security+ GDO module to the back of your garage door opener or next to your wall button (make sure there is an outlet close by)
- Your garage door opener motor has terminals typically labeled as follows – Red/White or “Wall Button”, usually marked clearly on the motor.
- Using 2 short lengths of wire, connect the white wire (GND), and red wire (signal), to the corresponding terminals on the GDO module (the white terminal is marked with a white box on the case lid). Make sure to leave any existing wires in place.
- Connect the GDO module to your 5v power adapter via a USB-C cable – a blue status LED should flash
- Restore power to your garage door opener
ESPHome
- Look for a temporary WiFi AP like circuitsetup-gdo-xxxx, and connect with your phone or computer
- A captive portal opens automatically in a browser. If it does not, navigate to 192.168.4.1 in your browser
- Enter your home WiFi SSID and password, then save
The module will reboot and join your WiFi network automatically.
- Home Assistant will discover the device – If you don’t see a notification, go to Settings > Devices & services
- Click Configure to set up the garage door device, controls, and sensors in Home Assistant
